Lamb Rules 2024

  1. The UWRF Prospect Weekend Lamb Show is a Junior breeding ewe and prospect lamb show.

  2. Open to any individuals 21 and under as of January 1, 2024.

  3. Entry fee is $20/one ring or $40/both rings.

  4. Check-in is Saturday, April 30th 6:00am – 8:00am , No Exceptions.

  5. Animals may only go through the chute one time. Please have your paperwork prepared.

  6. Declared weights will be used for class breaks. 5% Top and Bottom

  7. Out of state animals must present health papers meeting WI requirements. Visit     http://www.datcp.state.wi.us for more information.  Visit DATCP for ID rules and other current health requirements.

  8. All out of state lambs must have health papers and be individually identified on the health certificates and state animals are “Free of Disease”

  9. Any evidence of sore mouth, ringworm, foot rot, pink eye, wool fungus or other contagious diseases will disqualify the entire trailer and they will be asked to leave.

  10. Showmanship will be for the ages of 21 and under as of January 1, 2023. There will be five age divisions, Beginner (8 & under), Junior (9-11), Intermediate (12-15), Senior (16-19), Collegiate (20-21). 

  11. Registration for showmanship will take place at the show during check-in on Saturday. We encourage exhibitors to wear the UWRF Prospect Weekend shirts during showmanship.

  12. Lamb classes to be split by breed & weight, with breeds being Hampshire, Dorset Speck, Natural, Southdown, Crossbred. 

  13. Commercial Ewe Show - Any ewe of any breed can show in the commercial ewe show. Youth may not show the same ewe in both the commercial ewe show and market lamb show during the same show. Ewes must be under 20 months of age to be eligible for the commercial ewe show. The commercial ewe show will only be broken by weight, not breed nor age.

  14. There is no limit to the number of animals entered by one person.

  15. Awards given for class winners and breed champions prorated based on entries.

  16. Show officials reserve the right to make the final interpretation of the show rules.

  17. All rules outlined by the Wisconsin Club Lamb Association will be taken into action and can be found at wisconsinclublambassociation.com

  18. WCLA Sanctioned.

  19. The show committee reserves the right to interpret & mandate rules as needed.

  20. You are responsible for getting to the show ring on time. We will make barn calls, but we will not search for you in the barn.

  21. Animals deemed unruly, unsafe, or dangerous will be asked to leave the grounds.

  22. The UWRF Prospect Weekend Committee is not liable for injuries or losses.
