The UWRF Prospect Weekend Swine Show is a junior breeding gilt and market swine show.

Open to any individuals 21 and under as of January 1, 2024.

Entry fee for one show is $25 and both shows is $50.

Check-in show A is 3:00PM - 4:30PM on Friday, April 29th and Show B, 8:00AM – 9:30AM on Saturday, April 30th, no exceptions.

Animals may only go through the chute one time. Please have your paperwork prepared.

For weighing it will go as follows: Each Pig must be weighed, weights from Friday can be used for Saturdays Show.

Out of state animals must present health papers meeting WI requirements. Visit http://www.datcp.state.wi.us for more information. Visit DATCP for ID rules and other current health requirements.

ALL HOGS must follow the PRRS test requirements. Visit https://datcp.wi.gov/Pages/News_Media/NewSwineTstgReq.aspx for more information.

ALL HOGS must have health papers and be individually identified on the health certificates and state animals are “Free of Diseases.”

Ear notches will be used for hog identification.

Each breed will have their own class regardless of entry numbers.

There is no limit to the number of animals entered by one person.

All purebreds must meet respective breed characteristics.

Barrows will be shown by breed and weight, must be born after November 1, 2023.

Gilts will be judged as breeding gilts. Purebred gilts will show by age. Crossbred gilts will be shown by weight. All gilts must be born after November 1, 2023.

The show will begin 15 minutes after showmanship for both the show on Friday and Saturday.

Showmanship classes will be split into the following age divisions: Little Whips (4 and under), Novice (5-8), Junior (9-12), Intermediate (13-16), and Senior (17-21). Ages are as of January 1, 2024.

A showmanship competition will be held on Friday and Saturday.

Registration for showmanship will take place at the show during check-in on both Friday and Saturday. We encourage exhibitors to wear the UWRF Prospect Weekend shirts during showmanship.

Awards given for class winners & breed champions pro-rated based on entries & at the discretion of the show officials.

We will select a grand & reserve barrow and grand & reserve gilt with no supreme overall.

The show committee reserves the right to interpret & mandate rules as needed.

You are responsible for getting to the show ring on time. We will make barn calls, but we will not search for you in the barn.

Animals deemed unruly, unsafe, or dangerous will be asked to leave the grounds.

The UWRF Prospect Weekend Committee is not liable for injuries or losses.

Individual youth must be present to exhibit their own animal for their points to accumulate in the show circuit.
